Welcome to Drywood ACDs
1) PAPERS: AKC (American Kennel Club) registration
means your dog's ancestors are KNOWN and recorded.
This means you are actually getting the dog you want. And
you know where it's from. This only matters if you want the
dog you're getting to really BE the dog you're getting.
By the way, AKC papers don't guarantee quality AT ALL.
They only record pedigree.
There are lots of registries out there. In the USA, only the
AKC does the above.
2) TESTING: We bother with testing because we want to
avoid passing on a preventable condition. It really isn't
any more complicated than that.
We don't breed perfection; there are no perfect dogs. But if
we can avoid producing blind ones (PRCD-PRA), we'll most
certainly do the testing required to make that happen.
We do not guarantee nothing will ever go wrong. We test
for known conditions and make breeding choices from
there. Because if you don't know what you have, why are
you breeding more of it?
Oh -- Breeders who do all this work might not always have
a pup available RIGHT NOW. Doing all this background
work and raising a litter PROPERLY means we DO NOT
always have pups on the ground and ready to go this very
minute.

3) WHY DON'T I JUST GET A DOG FROM THE GUY DOWN
THE ROAD FOR CHEAP? Go ahead! It's your money. But if that dog
isn't free, what exactly are you paying for?
Here's what you're paying for from us: Drywood ACDs tests for health
issues (testing isn't free). We will take that dog back any time during its
ENTIRE LIFE if it doesn't work out (try THAT with the guy down the
road). We provide a lifetime of support for training and guidance (call
that guy down the road with your questions and see how much help you
get).
We know our dogs; they live with us 24/7. The dogs WE choose to breed
have been health tested, have competed in multiple venues, and/or do
actual farm work. If they were stupid dogs, nasty dogs, or couldn't be
housebroken, we sure wouldn't be breeding more of them.
The pups WE produce have been taken places and socialized to traffic,
kids, cats, other animals, noise, people. Temperament is very
important.
Not convinced yet? Well, your dog from Drywood will already be
registered, have its hearing tested, be microchipped, have at least its
first set of shots, and will have a health certificate from the vet. You'll
get its records and records from its parents. You'll know its risk for
blindness (PRCD-PRA status). So that guy down the road... what exactly
are you paying for again?
If you want "just a pet" that also has been tested and socialized, you ain't
getting it from that guy down the road or the one selling heelers at the
sales barn or flea market. It's that simple.
I JUST WANT A PET!
I DON'T CARE ABOUT PAPERS AND ALL THAT STUFF!
AND...
WHY DO YOUR DOGS COST MONEY? THE GUY DOWN
THE ROAD HAS HEELERS FOR A HUNDRED BUCKS!
HERE ARE THREE REASONS WE DO WHAT WE DO:
